Improving your gut health means increasing microbial diversity - probiotics, prebiotics, fiber
December 20, 2022Your probiotics may not be hitting the mark you are shooting for.
If you are on a probiotic loaded in lactobacillus and bifidobacterium, hear me out.
Microbial diversity = a healthy gut
"The key to a healthy, resilient gut is having a high microbial diversity, meaning you have a high number of different species that are evenly spread across your gut microbiome.”

But common lactobacillus and bifidobacterium probiotics may NOT be increasing your microbial diversity.
“Synbiotic Intervention with Lactobacilli, Bifidobacteria, and Inulin in Healthy Volunteers Increases the Abundance of Bifidobacteria but Does Not Alter Microbial Diversity”

I once asked our chief science officer why she never suggested we add a reseeding probiotic loaded in lactobacillus and bifidobacterium into our Silver Fern™ Brand product offering. Her answer was that since bacteria diversity was the key to gut health it made a lot more sense to combine managerial probiotic strains (Ultimate Probiotic) with precision prebiotics so that not only lactobacillus and bifidobacterium bacteria increased in abundance but all the other keystone bacteria (Christensenellacea, Akkermansia species, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Prevotella, etc.) did as well. Meaning, the key to gut health was a lot more prebiotics, NOT MORE PROBIOTICS. Are probiotics still important? Absolutely 💯
Combining Ultimate Probiotic with Targeted Prebiotic and/or Sensitive Gut Fiber is our key to building up your microbiome faster and in the most correct way available.
