The best probiotics survive without special coatings, capsules or high CFU count - gut health
September 25, 2022 The World Health Organization defines probiotics as “live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host.”
.
Based upon this definition, the key for probiotics to be probiotics is that they need to live to provide benefits to the person taking them, right?
“…traditional probiotics, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidbacterium species, show outstanding probiotic activities, but their survival is generally low, in the order of 1–15%, with some strains performing even more poorly.”

.
Because of this, special coatings, capsules, and high CFU counts are used to help overcome the natural tendency common reseeding probiotics have to die through digestion before they can offer benefits.
.
When you take true environmental probiotics, not only do they have very high survivability rates without special help, but they also offer broad bacteria diversity improvements rather than only boosting certain key strain populations in the gut. True environmental probiotics manage the gut, drive out pathogens, and increase populations of beneficial organisms.
